Top Ten Reasons Why Gays Should Be in Charge of the Military

A response to the comments of Marine Gen. Peter Pace: Top Ten Reasons Why Gays Should Be in Charge of the Military

10: Color coordinated uniforms

9: Quiche based MREs

8: Stock prices for retailers such as Banana Republic and Abercrombie & Fitch would get a boost from government contracts

7: Marching would be more fun to a Techno beat

6: Oil independance would finally become a reality when those gas guzzling Hummers are traded in for shiny new hybrids

5: General Jack McFarland and Major Mango

4: The Village People would finally get respect when contracted to write songs for the other branches of the armed forces

3: Who needs napalm when you are already flaming?

2: Not only would they shame those dirty Talibans by making them shave their beards but also dress nicer and get highlights

And the number 1 reason why gays should be in charge of the military:

Wars would no longer be decided by bomb or bullet, but by who has the meanest bitch slap!

No Golden Bricks

My extreme sneezing fits have subsided. Still not sure if it was allergies, a cold, both, or the election season. I said I would start laying golden bricks if the Democrats actually managed to win both the House and Senate. Well where the hell are they? Not that I would enjoy the pain of passing metal but the money would certainly help. Be careful when car shopping. Even buying a less expensive model with good credit can lead to steep monthly payments if you get too many options.

Movie night

As you may or may not know The Nightmare Before Christmas was re-released in theaters yesterday remastered in 3D. I won't do a full review since plenty of information is available. I had forgotten how much of the movie was musical. The blending was so perfect I was also unaware untill I saw the credits that Jack was voiced by two people, one for speaking and one for singing. The songs are not catchy numbers to fill time and sell CDs but sophisticated musical pieces that advance the movie. The 3D remastering was amazing. There was only one way Disney could have made this modern classic better and they found it. If you don't have a digital movie theater in your town capable of showing this feature it is worth a trip to one that does. It is a must see for any adult and child old enough for some scary animated imagery.

The future that will not be untill we have new leadership

This is the sort of thing our nation should be investing money in instead of pouring billions into the black hole of war in the Middle East..
Spray-On Solar-Power Cells Are True Breakthrough
The researchers envision that one day "solar farms" consisting of the plastic material could be rolled across deserts to generate enough clean energy to supply the entire planet's power needs.

"The sun that reaches the Earth's surface delivers 10,000 times more energy than we consume," said Ted Sargent, an electrical and computer engineering professor at the University of Toronto. Sargent is one of the inventors of the new plastic material.

"If we could cover 0.1 percent of the Earth's surface with [very efficient] large-area solar cells," he said, "we could in principle replace all of our energy habits with a source of power which is clean and renewable."

The the date of the article is January 14, 2005 yet this is the first I'm reading about this technology. It should have been major news because of the great potential versus disadvantage. It will continue to be supressed as long as we have leaders that are controlled by entrenched industries with the lure of campaign money. For an example check out the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?". Other alternatives are often trumpeted as the future but often hold more false hope than anything else such as wind farms which are inefficient, take up much room, and can even become death traps to airborn wildlife.

This could easily turn into a rant about campaign finance reform which is an important issue many problems inevitibly lead back to, but instead let's leave it at this: research alternative energy and vote green (as in environmental, not the party).

Blah...

Not much insight into anything today. Work is still slow but either allergies are very bad or I have a cold. Looking forward to sleep in my new bed that's being delivered today.

A band everyone should listen to

Here are the lyrics (from www.seeklyrics.com) to a few songs by the band System of a Down. They are masters of delivering political and social messeges wrapped in crazy, headbanging goodness.

Prison Song
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
Following the rights movement
You clamped on with your iron fists
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids
Following the rights movement
You clamped on with your iron fists
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids

I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch right here in hollywood

(nearly 2 million americans are
incarcerated in the prison system
prison system of the US)
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
(For you and me to live in!)
Another prison system
Another prison system
Another prison system
(For you and me!)

Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
you don't even flinch
all our taxes paying for your wars
against the new non-rich
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
you don't even flinch
all our taxes paying for your wars
against the new non-rich

I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch right here in hollywood

The percentage of americans in the prison system
prison system, has doubled since 1985

They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
(For you and me to live in!)
Another prison system
Another prison system
Another prison system
For you and I, For you and I, For you and I.
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
For you and me
Oh baby, you and me.

All research and successful drug policy show
that treatment should be increased
And law enforcement decreased
While abolishing mandatory minimun sentences
All research and successful drug policy show
that treatment should be increased
And law enforcement decreased
While abolishing mandatory minimun sentences

Utilising drugs to pay for secret wars around the world
drugs are now your global policy now you police the globe
I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch right here in hollywood

Drug money is used to rig elections
and train brutal corporate sponsored dictators
around the world

They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
they're trying to build a prison
(For you and me to live in!)
Another prison system
Another prison system
Another prison system
(For you and me!)
For you and I, for you and I, for you and I
For you and I
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
for you and me
oh baby, you and me

Deer Dance
Round, round
Circumventing circuses
lamenting in protest
to visible police
prescence sponsored fear
batallions of riot police
with rubber bullet kisses
baton courtesy
service with a smile

Beyond the staples center you can see america
with it's tired poor avenging disgrace
peaceful loving youth against the brutality
of plastic existence
(chrous)
pushing little children
with their fully automatics
they like to push the weak around
pushing little children
with their fully automatics
they like to push the weak around
round, round
A rush of words
pleading to disperse
upon your naked walls, alive
A political call
the fall guy accord
we can't afford to be neutral on a moving train
Beyond the staples center you can see america
with it's tired poor avenging disgrace
peaceful loving youth against the brutality
of plastic existence
(chrous)

A deer dance, invitation to peace
war staring you in the face, dressed in black
with a helmet, fierce
trained and appropriate for the malcontents
for the disproportioned malcontents.
The little boy smiled, it'll all be well
The little boy smiled, it'll all be well
(chrous)
Push the weak around(3x)
They like to push the weak around.

B.Y.O.B.
WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR!
My God is of Bible blood
with pointed ears
Victorious, victorious, steel.
For brand new spankin' deals.
Marching forward hypocritic
And hypnotic computers.
You depend on our protection,
Yet you feed us lies from the table cloth.
La la la la la la la la la,
Everybody's going to the party have a real good time.
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.
Kneeling roses disappearing,
Into Moses's dry mouth,
Breaking into Fort Knox,
Stealing our intentions,
Every city, gripped in oil,
Crying FREEDOM!
Handed to obsoletion,
Still you feed us lies from the table cloth.
La la la la la la la la la,
Everybody's going to the party have a real good time.
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.
Everybody's going to the party have a real good time.
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.
Blast off, its Party time,
And we don't live in a fascist nation,
Blast off , its party time,
And where the fuck are you?
Yeah
Where the fuck are you?
Where the fuck are you?
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor? [X4]
Kneeling roses disappearing,
Into Moses's dry mouth,
Breaking into Fort Knox,
Stealing our intentions,
Every city, gripped in oil ,
Crying FREEDOM!
Handed to obsoletion,
Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth.
La la la la la la la la la,
Everybody's going to the party have a real good time.
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine.
Everybody's going to the party have a real good time.
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sun, Where the fuck are
you!
Where the fuck are you!
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor? [X3]
Why, do, they always send the poor [X3]
They only send the poor [x2]
